     QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Q - 1:  Our class has 296 'students'.  I understand that our fee would be $296 for a custom-built full website.  Is this an annual fee?  Tim and Tina Thompson tntthomp@swva.net

A:  It is a one-time set up fee and includes free updates.  If you don't want a full website, the announcement page is only $12.00.

Perhaps in a few years I might have to consider setting a small maintenance
fee for full websites, but that will depend upon whether the entire HSR ONLINE website at that time can remain in the black after paying overhead and staff expense.

Frankly, I would like to avoid any subsequent charges because it would
require setting up a data base for billing, and who would I bill?  I
believe that just the normal setting up of new sites and the listing of new
individuals each year should sustain this website.   Also, it would be
easier in future years just to charge more for a new site than to try to
bill a maintenance charge to any previously published sites.

So it looks like $296.00 is all you would ever have to pay.

Q - 2:  Hi, I am not sure where else to look, so I am trying you out... I am
trying to find out if there is any information at about a class reunion
for the Orlando, Fl  high school, class of 1949.    This is for my
mother, and she has asked me to help find out any information for her...
She would like to attend if she could.  I have tried many routes to
trying to get this information, but being a novice with the computer, I
may not of done all that I could of... I could not find a high school in
Orlando, or any places that have reunions committees or announcements, (
like newspapers, etc.)  Could you please help me. If  you don't actually
have any information on this 50 year reunion, could you maybe help guide
me into another directiion... I appreciate any assistance you could
offer.... We do not live in Fl.  That is one reason this is so difficult
for me to find out anything.  If it would help, my mother's name at the time was Grace. M. Wolfe.   Thank-you for your time.  Mrs. Brucker, David Brucker truckerd@arkansas.net

A:  You came to the right place.   Many people who are in the same position as you, wondering if your grad school class is having a reunion, go ahead and
post a reunion announcement page, leaving blank the date and place of  the
reunion.  Then people from the class start to contact them, and it
snowballs - either to forming a reunion committee or finding out that a
reunion committee already exists.

We do not yet have any Orlando school listed, so I suggest you go ahead and
post the reunion announcement page.  It only costs twelve bucks and Grace will
end up reconnecting with long lost friends.  When this will happen, no one
knows, but we are getting over 400,000 hits/month and the odds are that
sooner rather than later, Grace will start getting contacts.

Q - 3:  I forgot what I was going to ask.  I guess I need to take your memory improvement course.

Q - 4:  Could you give me some information about your website, please?   Is there a cost - is my real question.  I am working with no budget and need desparately to get the information "out there" to our alumni.  How do I get our announcement on the website and how can I enter info on the "database" for addresses and potentially pictures in order to create a directory that we can distribute at the reunion?  Thanks.  Beverly Jones  beverly_a_jones@sbphrd.com

A:  The cost of an announcement page is only $12.00.   You can go to the blue side bar and click on List Your: Reunion.  Fill in the blanks and submit it.  Every one of the grad classes listed on our website has this announcement page.  Your own name and address listing is included in the $12.00.

Individuals can list themselves in the directory at $7.00 each.

Here is what Sharon Rose wrote on 3/9/02 for her grad class page for Little Falls HS, Little Falls, NY:

Hello classmates of 1986 I hope this finds you all in great health and happy times. I think this web page is good because it cost only $7.00 for a life time to join instead of $29.95 a year at classmates.   I am trying ti pull together a reunion in 8-2003. I have been talfing to a couple of you and this is what you all want also. So I hope to hear from you all soon .Spread the word about this web page -- its great. I paid myself to get this school and year started so it should only cost you all $7.00 one time to get posted and able to use the page to e-mail anyone on it unlike classmates.  Sharon Ryde Rose 1986

However, if you want a complete directory now, which you would supply, you would want to go for the full customized website - which, in the long run, is less costly than having each classmate sign up individually at $7.00 each.  Following, is information about the full customized website.

A customized full website includes the school photo and/or logo, a complete directory of every class member, a listing of those who are missing, a memorial page to those deceased, an announcement page, a page of reunion photos and gossip, nostalgia pages consisting of photos and narrative of news, entertainment and sports events that occurred during your graduation year and free updates. A message center may also be included soon. Schools that already have customized full websites are indicated by the red arrow on the Schools List.

The price for a customized full website is an amount equal to $1.00 per member of the graduation class. It is paid by the reunion committee, not the individuals.

The easiest way for a reunion committee to pay for a customized full website is to add a small charge to the next reunion registration fee.

For example, if the committee believes that 1/3 of a class of 300 would attend the reunion (100 registrants) , they will set a charge of $3.00 per person added on to the reunion registration. If only 25% are expected to attend, the additional charge should be $4.00. The committee will make a down payment to HSR ONLINE and pay the balance as it receives registration fees from the registrants. [Having a full website will increase the number of registrants, so the site actually pays for itself].

If the reunion is scheduled for more than a year away, the reunion committee may not have much or any money at present. If it or you make a $100 down payment, I'll go ahead and post your full website now.

Just give me the number of members in your graduation class, the amount you want to pay down and a rough schedule of how you want to make the balance of payments. Everyone is on the honor system to make the payments on schedule, as I don't want to have to bill anyone.

You can fill in the customized full website application by clicking on to List Your: School Website on the blue side bar.

Q - 5: Yesterday I added my name to my grad class directory and paid $7.00 through a credit card.  How long will it take to show up?  Kelly Pitcher-Pazar.

A:  Nothing with me is automatic.  I have to type everything that goes up on this website.  Sometimes it can take a few days - especially if I have to go out of  town - but usually I get the job done within one to two days.

If it doesn't show up within a week, e-mail me.  Be sure to send me a copy of the application you filled out and a copy of  any bank or credit card processing acknowledgment you received so that I can trace your application.  Of course, I will need your full name, the name of your school, the school's city, the school's state and your graduation year.

Q - 6:  When I went to list my credit card, the credit card processing company (The Supermarket) asked for my password.  I thought there were no passwords on your website.  What goes?  sacuma@aol.com

A:  High School Reunions ONLINE does not require any passwords to access any information posted here.  This is an open posting website.  Some websites boast they have thousands of schools listed, but you can't prove that boast to be false because they require any surfer/visitor to purchase a password membership for each school just to see who is listed.  We now have a different credit card processing company, and it does not ask for a password.

Q - 7.  Hello, I am a female writing to you because my high school reunion is coming up in November.  I have a BIG QUESTION.  Is it better to go alone or with a man?  I am not married and I do not have children.   I have a loving boyfriend, but it will never end in marriage because we are so different.  Do I take him?  Or will I look fine going there dateless?

A.  Going to a reunion is not like going to a bar.   You will be among friends and will get so involved in talking with them and dancing that the evening will go fast.  There is nothing wrong with going single...in fact, there is an advantage.  Instead of being concerned that your date is having a good time, you can spend the evening having your own 100% good time.  It also will allow you to get closer to those single guys there -- you might strike up an old flame or kindle one in someone who always liked you but never made his interest known to you.  A date would be a drag.

Although I went to my 50th reunion with my wife, I made it my business to hug every female there.  I just had my wife follow me with a video camera.

Loosen up.  If your relationship with your boyfriend is a dead end, make some new friends.  Good luck to you and have a great time.

Response:  Thank you for your advice.  You are most definitely correct.

Keep your questions coming....
